Josquin Chuffart

Josquin is (bass) trombonist with the Royal Music Band of the Belgian Guides.
He was born in Tournai in 1978 and began his musical studies with Christian Fleuré (the Monnaie Theatre) and then with Thierry Meurisse. In 1997, he began his studies at the Royal Conservatory of Brussels in the class of José Schyns. He obtained several First Prizes and continued his studies at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique in Paris. There he obtained a Diplôme de Formation Supérieure highest distinction, as well as a certificate on double bass trombone and DFS chamber music in a brass quintet with Ibrahim Maalouf.

He has performed with the Brussels Monnaie Theatre, the Paris Opera, the Lyon Opera, the Liège Opera, the Strasbourg Opera, the National Orchestra of Ile-de-France, the National Orchestra of Montpellier, the National Orchestra of Strasbourg, the Swiss Romande Orchestra, the Philharmonic Orchestra of Luxembourg, the Brussels Philharmonic and the National Orchestra of Belgium, among others. He also collaborated on several projects with Damon Albarn, Hemut Lotti and Sandra Kim, among others.

As a teacher, he taught in Lyon, Tournai, Beloeil, and currently in Geel and Diest. Since 2010, Josquin has been bass trombonist with the Belgian Defense Forces, and since 2014 he has been (bass) trombonist with the Musical Band of the Guides.
