With the following statement we aim to clarify which of your information we store, how we process it and what we use it for. Adams Musical Instruments is responsible for the data processing. We recommend that you carefully read this statement.

In our processing, we comply with the requirements set by the privacy laws. That means, among other things, that we:

  • clearly state the purposes for which we process personal data. We do this by means of the privacy statement on this page;

Which of your details do we want to know?

Phone number: If we need to talk to you about your order, it is practical that we can quickly speak to you personally.

Payment details (IBAN): When you pay for your order, your data is stored in our administration so that the payment is linked to your order.

IP address: So that we know that you, and only you, are using your MyAdams account and so that we can notify you when your account is used in several places, if this is unwanted.

If you have any questions about your order or are having problems placing an order, we will contact you through e-mail. What do we use it for?

Customer service: We try to bundle and process information that you give us as much as we can, so that we can help you in the best way possible.

Registered Account: Your MyAdams account contains your personal information. Name, delivery and billing address, date of birth, telephone number and login details. This is convenient for both you and us, because you won't have to complete all the information boxes every time. We also keep records of your previous orders, so that we can help you faster.

Newsletters: It is possible to register for various newsletters. General and personal newsletters. To determine the content of personal newsletters and offers, we review what you have ordered in the past and which items you have looked at. This information helps us predict what you would like and which items and offers are potentially interesting for you. Would you rather not receive newsletters anymore? Unsubscribing is easy: simply click on the link at the bottom of the newsletter or the offer to unsubscribe from the newsletter and/or offers. It is also possible to select in your MyAdams account which information you wish to receive from us.

Reviews: You can help other customers with your comments and reviews. By sharing your experience, you give others a better picture of the product or service that we have delivered to you. Any reviews you write will be saved in your MyAdams account, so that you can review them at all times.

Improvements: We strive to improve the content and layout of our website, preferably tailored to the individual visitor. We ship many orders a day, and occasionally something goes wrong, or there might be room for improvement. That is why we store all the conversations you have had with us and analyse them, so that we can serve you better in any future contact. Furthermore, it allows us to analyse your reading behaviour and to create content that suits your needs. We do this by registering unique visits, and all the activities that take place within one such visit. Think for instance of which pages you have viewed and which links or images you have clicked. It goes without saying that we always handle your data carefully. Sometimes, someone else carries out this check for us. This party will always adhere to the privacy guidelines as well.

Promotions: Whenever we organise a contest promotion, we want the winner to receive their promised prize of course. That is why it is important that we store the data of all participants, so that we can contact the winner and maybe ask the participants what they thought of the promotion.

Tailored advice: We want to help and advice every customer as well as possible in choosing one of our instruments or products. That's why we like to get to know you well. By using cookies, we collect information that helps us do this.

Fraud prevention: We'd love to trust everything and everyone, but unfortunately that trust is abused sometimes. That is why we sometimes have to use customer data to investigate, prevent and counter fraud. And in very suspicious circumstances, we are also obliged to report to government agencies.

Advertisement: It is possible to be informed of our new products and services by email, telephone and/or mail, as well as through information on the website. If you do not wish to receive such mailings or telephone calls, please contact us using the contact information below. Additionally, if you do not wish to receive commercial phone calls (anymore), you can make this known through the “Telephone Preference Service (TPS)”. Adams Musical Instruments may use consumer information for new purposes that are not yet provided for in our privacy policy. In such case, we will contact you prior to using your data for such new purposes, to inform you of the changes to our regulations for the protection of personal data and to provide you with the opportunity to refuse your participation.

Are your details provided to third parties?

We may also provide your personal data to our partners. These partners are involved with the execution of the agreement. These partners are (also) based outside of the EU. We have strict agreements for complying with European privacy regulation with them. Our website includes social media buttons. The administrators of these services use these to collect your personal information. We only pass your data on to other parties if this is really necessary for our services, i.e. delivery partners, suppliers or repairers, product support, payment partners, IT service providers and parties that collect our reviews. Our delivery partner must be able to deliver your order to the correct address. Parties such as data management platforms, media and advertising agencies and research agencies are involved if we want to give you personal advice or show you targeted advertisements, for example based on your interest in certain products. In suspicious situations, we are obliged to share client data with government agencies.

The parties who gain access to your data may only use it to provide you with a service on behalf of Adams Musical Instruments. Unless they are themselves responsible for obtaining and protecting your data. We never sell your data to third parties.

What do we do to protect this data?

Adams Musical Instruments values the proper security of Personal Data greatly. Adams Musical Instruments has therefore taken appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect your personal data against loss or against any form of unlawful processing. For example, during the ordering process and the sending of contact forms, Adams Musical Instruments always uses a secure (SSL) connection, so that no one can secretly watch over your shoulder.

We store your data in various databases within the European Union. We always apply strict security measures. In the exceptional case that customer data is transferred to countries outside the European Union, we ensure that your privacy is protected in an appropriate manner. For a couple of countries, this has been laid down officially. Some American parties have registered under the Privacy Shield, which offers sufficient protection. Furthermore, we work with official model contracts that are specially designed to guarantee your privacy.

How long do we store your data?

We do not store or use your data any longer than necessary. After that, we delete all data we have of you. Or, we use your data because we need certain information for internal analyses and reports, such as the value of your order.

This sounds nice and simple, but how does that work in practice? We adhere to certain storage time frames, after which we delete your data. These are:

  • Camera images from our offices are not kept for more than 4 weeks. Unless the images have to be kept longer because we see something suspicious that we have to investigate further, or because of another legal obligation.
  • We delete inactive client accounts after 7 years. After that period, we use your data only for internal reports.
  • The tax authorities require us to keep our administration containing your invoice, payment and order information for 7 years. After that, we only use data for internal reports. You are obligated to hold on to the invoices for your purchases, for example for when your warranty expires.
  • When you have your product repaired or replaced by Adams Musical Instruments, we will keep your report and contact details for 7 years. After that, we only use data for internal reports.
  • We store all other correspondence with customers for 7 years. Even if you decide to delete your personal data at a given time, we will keep a record of this removal. After that period, we use your data only for internal reports.
  • We retain data that we use to prevent fraud for a very long time. That's not nice, but it is necessary.

Do you want to view your personal data or do you want to change or delete data from our system?

Not a problem. You can do this yourself, in your MyAdams account. Or you can let us know by mail or e-mail. You may also submit a request to request a data export for data that we use with your consent, or provide a statement with reasons that you want us to limit the processing of personal data.

To prevent abuse, we may ask you to identify yourself appropriately. When it comes to access to personal data linked to a cookie, you must send a copy of the cookie in question. You can find this in the settings of your browser. If the details are incorrect, you can request that we change the data or have it removed.

What is the regulatory body?

Of course we are happy to help you if you have any complaints about the processing of your personal data. Under the privacy legislation, you also have the right to file a complaint with the Dutch Data Protection Authority against the processing of personal data. You may contact the Dutch Data Protection Authority for this.
