Ars Nova (sempre)
The flute ensemble of the flute studio of the Royal Conservatory of Liège brings you a concert that brings a dialogue between new music from old times and old(er) music from our time.
The flute is a singing instrument, and with a motet by Bernard de Cluny we sing about the modernity of the late medieval Ars Nova, and then let John Cage, the 20th century master of stillness, speak. With a bungee jump to Burgundian Flanders of the 15th century, we show how inventive and innovative the polyphonists such as Josquin des Prez and Alexander Agricola deal with the evergreen 'de tous bien Playne'. Horatiu Radulescu's Capricorn's Nostalgic Crickets II opens the gates to a spectral wonderland of timbres.
