Mette Laugs studied bassoon with Johan Steinmann at the Royal Conservatory in The Hague, and received her exam Performing Musician in 1994. Before she graduated she was accepted at 'Het Gelders Orkest', the orchestra of which she recently retired as a solo bassist. For Mette, music means playing together, communicating and inspiring. Since her youth, she teaches music with the energy and passion that characterizes her, she organizes music courses and plays in various ensembles.
Since 2008 she has been affiliated as principal teacher foor bassoon and chamber music teacher at the Prince Claus Conservatory in Groningen, where she was appointed as the coordinator of the Master of Music program in September 2013. In this position she hopes to contribute to the training of musicians who are able to survive in the current turbulent but challenging political climate, where innovation and entrepreneurship are key concepts. She also followed the master's program 'Management and Innovation in social institutions' at the Hogeschool van Arnhem and Nijmegen (HAN), where she graduated in November 2015.
