José Antonio Masmano

José Antonio Masmano is Associate Principal Oboe and Cor Anglais of the Orquesta Ciudad de Granada (Granada City Orchestra) since 1996 and was Professor of Oboe and Orchestral Repertoire at the Conservatoire of Music in Aragon since 2009 until 2021. He was President of the Asociación de Fagotistas y Oboístas de España (Spanish Double Reed Society) from its foundation in 2011 until 2018.

After finishing his oboe studies at the Conservatoire of Valencia he proceeded to obtain the "Performance Diploma” with Emanuel Abbühl at the Conservatorium of Rotterdam.

Orchestral activities include collaborating with Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra of Amsterdam, Qatar Philiarmonic Orchestra, Malaysian Philarmonic Orchestra, BandArt, Chamber Orchestra of the European Community and many Spanish orchestras.

As a soloist he has performed concertos by Vivaldi, Albinoni, Bach, Oscar Navarro as well as the Concerto for oboe by Richard Strauss with the Orquesta Ciudad de Granada, Vojvodanski Simfonijski Orkestar (Serbia) and Orchestra Magna Grecia (Italia) addition the Concertino for Cor Anglais and orchestra by Wolf Ferrari, also with the OCG.

He has been invited to participate as a jury in prestigious competitions such as the IV Concurso de Cámara in Alzira 2013, the I Concurso de Fagot y Oboe 2014 de la Asociación de Doble Caña de Sevilla, the 2016 Young Artist in Columbus (Georgia and the 2017 Gillet/Fox International Oboe Competition in Appleton (Wisconsin).

Masmano plays a Püchner Oboe model 733 C, Oboe d’amore model 36 C and English horn model 39 C.
