OPERcussion

Unique in its kind, the OPERcussion Ensemble combines the highest tradition of a 500-year-old orchestra with a commitment to development and innovate in the art of percussion. Formed in 2008, the members of the Ensemble each offer in their own way the idiosyncrasies, customs, traditions and creativity of their countries of origin: Germany, Holland, France and Chile.

An international ensemble, which brings the art of percussion from the orchestra pit to the front row.

During the last few years, OPERcussion has established itself as one of the most prestigious Chamber Music Ensembles of the Bayerische Staatsorchester, giving concerts in the largest concert halls in the city, with a repertoire that ranges from the premiere of contemporary pieces especially written for the ensemble along with work with composers such as Oriol Cruixent, Konstantia Gourzi or Nicolas Martynciow, among others, and original music arrangements for other instruments from the classical, romantic and impressionist periods.

In June 2022 they will release their first CD together with the Bayerische Staatsoper Recording label with a Latin American repertoire written and arranged especially for the Ensemble.

OPERcussion members play exclusively on Marimbas supplied by Adams Musical Instruments, Meinl Latin Percussion, Sultan cymbals, Black Swamp accessories and Didier Lacroix drumsticks.

Each members of the ensemble are:

Maxime Pidoux, Carlos Vera-Larrucea, Thomas März, Pieter Roijen and Claudio Estay
