Simon Van Hoecke

Simon van Hoecke graduated from the Royal Flemish Conservatory in Antwerp and completed his studies at the Hochschule für Musik und Darstellende Kunst Frankfurt. He currently has a position as 1st trumpet in the Philharmonie Luxembourg.

As a chamber musician, he won first prize with the Eburon Quintet at the prestigious "Concours International de Musique de Chambre" in Lyon and has performed on international stages including the Hermitage Theater, Festival Berlioz, Festival de la Chaise-Dieu, Festival de Saintes and Sauerland Herbst.

His mastery of trumpet, flugelhorn and piccolo trumpet highlights his musical versatility and flexibility. His creativity and passion for brass playing are reflected in his own compositions and arrangements, as well as in invitations for guest conducting, masterclasses and clinics from Spain to Saint Petersburg. As conductor of the fanfare Toeterdonk from Tildonk, he won the Vlamo Award with his composition "De Engelenburcht", an initiative that is creative and artistic and, through its exceptional form, has a lasting impact on its surroundings. He is also conductor of the Royal Fanfare Sint-Jansvrienden from Wiekevorst and Brassband Buizingen, two renowned ensembles within the Belgian wind music scene. Simon is trumpet professor at the Royal Conservatory, School of Arts of the Artesis Plantijn University College Antwerp.
