Andrew Chan

Marimbist / Percussionist Acclaimed as gone of the most promising young budding marimba playersh by the well-known composer Peter Klatzow, Andrew Chan began his percussion studies at high school in Macau and received various awards in the Macao Youth Musicians Competitions.

Graduated at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music, Australia as a Master of Music Studies (Percussion Performance) with the tutorship under Richard Miller, Claire Edwardes and Daryl Pratt, Andrew received numerous scholarships and performance awards, including the Sydney Conservatorium Concerto Competition 2009, first and second prize of Open Marimba Solo in the Australian Percussion Eisteddfod 2009 and 2010.
 
Ever since, Andrew is devoted to be an active solo and ensemble player. He performed various percussion and marimba solo performances in International Festivals and Concerts including the Opening Ceremony of eTAA Taiwan International Hi-End Hi-Fi Show 2012f in Taipei, Taiwan; eCelebrate Macau 2009f, hosted by Macao Special Administrative Region Government Tourist Office in Australia; Australian Pavilion in Shanghai World Expo 2010, Australian Percussion Gathering Gala 2010 and The 35th Annual International Trumpet Guild Concert, Australia, to name a few.
 
Andrew was engaged with the Sydney Sinfonia and the Sydney Symphony Orchestra since 2007 and performed as a guest musician in orchestral and ensembles concerts at the Sydney Opera House. He was featured as an emerging artist in the Australian Percussion Gathering 2010 and he was the only performer as a solo marimbist to share the stage with distinguished percussionists such as Steven Schick and Sylvio Gualda. The next year, he played under the baton of Michael Tilson Thomas in The YouTube Symphony Orchestra 2011.
 
Andrew has recently appeared in various media in China. He made his debut TV appearance in gChinese Worldh, broadcasted in China Central Television International Channel (CCTV4) as featured as an emerging musician. He was also invited to perform marimba solo in event gMade in China & Australia - East Meets Westh in China. Moreover, he performed for The Hon Barry O'Farrell MP, Premier of New South Wales Australia and Mr. Zhu Xiaodan, Governor of Guangdong Province of China at an official event  in Guangzhou, China.  Andrew is also invited to represent Macao SAR to perform in the Beijing Modern Music Festival 2013.
 
Andrew is an official endorser of Adams Musical Instruments (The Netherlands) and Encore Mallets (USA). He recently released his first percussion and marimba CD album eONEf with China Records.
