Óscar Santiso Eiroa

As one of the Spanish tuba rising stars, Óscar Santiso Eiroa is a passionate tuba player, always looking for a new challenge. Very connected with Dutch musical culture, highlights of his successful period in the Netherlands include performances with internationally renowned orchestras such as the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra, Residentie Orkest/The Hague Philharmonic, and the Netherlands Philharmonic Orchestra.

He also had the opportunity to perform in major halls all over the world, including cities such as New York City, Amsterdam, Lisbon, Amiens, Bayreuth, Madrid, Antwerp, and Luxemburg, collaborating with orchestras such as Oporto Symphony Orchestra, Madeira Classical Orchestra, Ljubljana International Orchestra, and the European Union Youth Wind Orchestra, among others.

Óscar was born in A Coruña, a beautiful Galician city in northwest Spain, where he began his musical education at the Professional Conservatory of Music, obtaining a Professional Degree with his mentor Raúl Galán. Later, he was awarded an Erasmus scholarship to continue his education with the eclectic Sérgio Carolino at the School of Music and Performing Arts (ESMAE) in Oporto, Portugal, taking Óscar's mind to the next level.

He graduated with a Bachelor's Degree under the guidance of Alfonso Mollá at the Superior Conservatory of Music (CONSMUPA) in Oviedo and, after winning a musical arts scholarship, he moved to Holland to study for a Master of Music Degree with the tuba virtuoso Perry Hoogendijk.

As a performer in his country, Mr. Santiso has collaborated with important orchestras such as the Spanish National Orchestra, Galicia Symphony, Gran Canaria Philharmonic, Tenerife Symphony, Navarra Symphony, and Las Palmas Symphony Orchestra among others.

He also has won several prizes at soloist and chamber music competitions, including the "1st Soloist Contest” at the A Coruña Professional Conservatory of Music in 2006, the A Coruña Superior Conservatory of Music in 2011 performing the Tuba Concerto by Edward Gregson with the Symphonic Wind Band, and the “1st Canarian Young Talents” in 2019, performing the Tuba Concerto by Bruce Broughton with the Gran Canaria Philharmonic Orchestra.

For the past few years, he taught Tuba and Chamber Music at the Superior Conservatory of Music in the Canary Islands (CSMC), the Professional Conservatory of Music in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, and various academies and music schools.

In 2019, he joined as a tuba solo in the Las Palmas Symphonic Municipal Band and, he is currently highly demanded as a guest tuba & sousaphone player in classical and modern music projects, such as Las Palmas Symphony Orchestra, Gran Canaria Wind Orchestra, Buzzing Brass, The GC Jazz Nonet, Ensemble Salvaje, and Borondón Big Band, among many others.

Since 2023, Óscar Santiso has been an Adams Artist and he actively collaborates with Sanganxa Music Store, the official dealer of Adams Musical Instruments in Spain.
