Adams Musical Instruments - Together in Music

Lo-fyr

Formed during the COVID-19 lockdown, Lo-fyr brings together four Bangkok-based euphonium players with a shared passion for chamber music. The quartet explores the instrument’s warmth, agility, and expressive range through a repertoire connecting folk traditions, classical works, and Japanese anime music.

Music from different cultures is central to Lo-fyr’s identity. Its arrangements bring folk melodies and dance rhythms from around the world into a chamber music setting, from the Bulgarian folk dance Gankino Horo to works written for the quartet by Thai composers, inspired by traditional melodies from Thailand’s diverse regions. Japanese anime favourites such as DAN DAN and virtuosic classical works including Antonio Bazzini’s Dance of the Goblins add further dimensions to its programmes.

Lo-fyr has performed at the Thailand International Tuba Euphonium Conference, Music in the Park at Rama VIII Park, and events at the Bangkok Art and Culture Center organised by the Princess Galyani Vadhana Institute of Music and the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration. The quartet has also presented concerts at Silpakorn University and Kasetsart University, sharing music across cultures and generations.
