Dontae Winslow is one of music's “rising stars” and educators. He is currently working on his 7th studio album entitled Winslow Dynasty, which features a bold, soulful, and eclectic style of live instrumentation and electronic music production. He was trained in music at the formidable Baltimore School for the Arts high school. In four years, he attained a Bachelors and Masters degree in Classical Music Performance from the Peabody Conservatory of The John’s Hopkins University. While in college he released 7 titles on his own independent label, Ransom Entertainment. Executive producing these albums honed his skills as a producer, songwriter, trumpeter, and artist.

As a music producer he has 2 songs on Keyshia Cole’s album Calling All Hearts (released 12/21/10), and 3 songs on R&B singer Avant’s self-titled album (2008). He also arranged strings and performed and arranged horns on the new Kelly Price CD, and on gospel duo Mary Mary’s CD projects. He is co-writer of Kanye West’s anthem “We Major”, Jay-Z’s “I Made It”, David Banner’s “Faith”, Chanté Moore’s “Can’t Do It”, and Kierra Sheard’s “The One” and “Love Like Crazy”. He plays trumpet on the new Quincy Jones CD Soul Bossa Nostra, and is currently in the studio with Dr. Dre working on Detox (June 2011).

Dontae is also a featured soloist with composer Darin Atwater’s Soulful Symphony. After winning the John Lennon International Songwriting Competition in 2002, Dontae moved to Los Angeles. In 2003, Dontae Winslow was awarded a full fellowship to Thelonious Monk Institute of Jazz at USC, where he studied and performed with jazz trumpeter / film composer Terence Blanchard, trumpeter Gary Grant, and string arranger Jeremy Lubbock.

In 2011 Dontae became a regular on the hit TV show American Idol, playing trumpet live in front of more than 25 million viewers weekly. Dontae has worked in the bands of artists such as Jill Scott, Queen Latifah, Common, D’Angelo, Christina Aguilera, Lauryn Hill, Snoop Dogg, Eminem, Raphael Saadiq, Gary Thomas and Gary Bartz. He is an endorsing artist for Adams Musical Instruments, Korg, Moog Music and Dave Smith Instruments.

In addition to recording, Dontae is a jazz improvisation, music production and performance clinician for esteemed institutions such as The Berklee School of Music, The Thelonious Monk Institute of Jazz, The Los Angeles Unified School District, The Baltimore School for the Arts, and The Peabody Conservatory of The Johns Hopkins University. He has a beautiful wife, singer Mashica Winslow, and an anointed son, Jedidiah Divine Order Winslow. Dontae Winslow is a renaissance man and a new voice for those who seek to overcome some of life’s most challenging obstacles; his messages seek to inspire.
