Don Palmire

Donald Palmire is al meer dan dertig jaar actief als euphoniumsolist, clinicus en docent. Hij begon cornet te spelen toen hij 11 jaar oud was. Pas in zijn voorlaatste jaar van de middelbare school kreeg hij zijn eerste privéles en in zijn laatste jaar stapte hij over op euphonium. Hij begon zijn carrière als euphoniumspeler bij The Marine Corps Recruit Depot Band in Parris Island, SC in 1980. Tijdens zijn periode in Parris Island was hij regelmatig te horen als solist. Don studeerde tussen 1983 en 1986 aan Florida Community College en The University of South Florida.

Don is onlangs met pensioen gegaan uit het leger met in totaal 30 dienstjaren. Hij is voormalig solo-euphonium van The United States Army Band "Pershing's Own" en voormalig lid van The Dominion Brass. Van 1987 tot 1991 was hij euphoniumspeler bij The United States Marine Band, "The President's Own". Van 1992 tot 1994 was hij euphoniumspeler en solist bij de Dallas Wind Symphony. Hij trad op met The U.S. Army Concert Band, The U.S. Army Orchestra, The U.S. Army Brass Band, The U.S. Army Brass Quintet, The Virginia Grand Military Band, The Maryland Symphony, The Harrisburg Symphony en The Sarasota Orchestra. Van 2018 tot 2021 was Don solo-euphonium van de Royal Hawaiian Band. Don behaalde in 1994 een Master of Music in Church Music aan Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary en in 2023 een Doctor of Music Education aan Liberty University.

Don was gastsolist en clinicus bij middelbare scholen, hogescholen en harmonieorkesten. Hij was een vaste clinicus bij het Music for All National Concert Band Festival en Summer Symposium. Zijn belangrijkste docenten waren David Dorrough, Reese Dusenbury, Don Kneeburg, Arthur Lehman, David Fedderly en Milton Stevens. Momenteel is hij Teaching Assistant Professor Euphonium aan East Carolina University. Don is een Adams Performing Artist en speelt exclusief op de Adams Custom E1 euphonium.
