Lunchbreak Concert
The Lunch Break concert today will be played by Matthias Ziegler, perhaps Europe's most famous and innovative Low flute specialist. With the Dutch première of Eva Kingma's double Contrabass flute!

The instruments used in this concert are the Quarter-tone Flute, Alto Flute, Bass Flute, Contrabass Flute and as a premiere the Double Contrabass Flute by Eva Kingma. According to Matthias Ziegler »all sounds (key noise, winds, breath sounds) usually neglected on the flute, are amplified. There is a whole orchestra inside the flute, which allows me to play solo-polyphonic music«.
Ziegler performs his evocative and compelling pieces on a variety of flutes which were built specifically for him by Eva Kingma. Using these instruments, Ziegler creates music that is by turns passionate and melancholy, playful and spooky, mournful and celebratory. He incorporates elements of jazz, classical and folk music into his haunting and dynamic compositions, reflecting a wide range of diverse musical influences.
