Adams Musical Instruments - Together in Music

Andre Heuvelman

As a child, Andre Heuvelman (1966) had a great passion for making music. The trumpet appeared in his life by coincidence. However, this instrument offered a great challenge because of Andre’s handicap – he had a short lower-arm and a limp wrist. His down-to-earth approach to achieve what he dreamed of in the world of music allows Andre to have a compelling story to tell. That explains why he’s asked often as a keynote speaker to touch, connect and inspire audiences. With his beautiful music and touching vulnerability he shares his story and challenges his audience to take their place on their own, individual stages.

Trumpet as a core
Andre has been a trumpet player since 1990 and the solo trumpet for the Rotterdam Philharmonic Orchestra since 1997. The orchestra is famous for extraordinary concerts in the most beautiful concert halls in the world. Andre is also a member of the Netherlands Wind Ensemble, which is well known in the Netherlands for the annual New Year’s concerts on Dutch national television. Andre does master classes on a regular basis and he teaches at the Rotterdam School of High Arts Codarts.

Endless energy
Andre believes there is so much more than just playing notes. Infinite curiosity and drive to communicate are preconditions for a career on stage, whatever that stage may be. He shows endless energy and is the creator of many concepts to connect and activate audience and musicians. His mission is to (re)connect people to themselves and to create shared value by doing so. His numerous initiatives are witness to this mission.

Activities
In 2013, he released his solo album “AfterSilence”, on which his music expresses the universal language of emotion, connection and inspiration. Apart from many concerts with the Rotterdam Philharmonic Orchestra and the Netherlands Wind Ensemble, Andre is incredibly active on other platforms for music throughout the year. In 2014, he was invited to perform at the opening of the prestigious Market Hall in Rotterdam, with Queen Máxima present. On Dutch radio, Andre appeared in the Radio4 program “A good morning with ….” and on Dutch national television he appeared as the main guest in the program “The Night Kiss”. He performed at corporate gatherings for Ziggo, the Dutch Kidney Foundation and he was invited by the Radboud Medical Centre as a keynote speaker on the European Listening and Healthcare Conference, where he discussed the theme “Listening in health care”, with his music as a guideline for the audience.
