Adams Musical Instruments - Together in Music

Melinda Veres

Melinda Veres (born December 31, 1999, in Bra?ov, Romania) is a Romanian-Hungarian trombonist whose artistic voice moves fluidly between orchestral, chamber, and contemporary music landscapes. She currently holds the position of Principal Trombone at the Hungarian Opera in Cluj-Napoca, following her tenure as Principal Trombone with the Oradea State Philharmonic.

Her musical path began on the piano at the age of eight, before expanding into the world of wind instruments at eleven, studying alto horn, euphonium, and alto saxophone under Munteanu Ambrozie. These formative years were shaped by a wide range of ensemble experiences, from brass bands to festivals and chamber music settings. At fourteen, she fully embraced the trombone, beginning her focused training at the Plugor Sándor Arts High School in Sfântu Gheorghe, where she studied with Demeter Attila and later Molnár Géza. In 2018, she was admitted to the Gheorghe Dima National Music Academy in Cluj-Napoca, where she completed her Bachelor’s degree with highest distinction under the mentorship of Mircea Neamt and Leonard Neamt.
During this time, she became actively involved in the Romanian musical scene, performing with leading institutions such as the Brasov Philharmonic, Romanian National Opera Timisoara, Hungarian Opera Cluj-Napoca, and Sibiu State Philharmonic. Her artistic development continued internationally through the Erasmus+ program at Codarts University of the Arts in Rotterdam, where she studied with Alexander Verbeek. She later returned to complete her Bachelor’s degree with top honors, and subsequently pursued a Master of Music at Codarts (2022–2024), studying with Alexander Verbeek and Rommert Groenhof.

Alongside her academic journey, Melinda has cultivated a vibrant freelance career across Europe. In the Netherlands, she has collaborated with ensembles such as the Nationaal Symfonisch Kamerorkest, Het Promenade Orkest, Holland Symphony Orchestra, Sinfonia Rotterdam, and the Rotterdam Philharmonic Orchestra.

Her international activity includes performances in chamber music, brass ensembles, and collaborative projects, as well as appearances with the Orchestre de Jeunes de Luxembourg and the Jong Metropole Orchestra.

Deeply committed to her artistic evolution, she continuously refines her sound and musical identity through masterclasses with distinguished trombonists and pedagogues, including Kiss Zoltán, Ilja Reijngoud, Guilhem Kusnierek, Brian Hecht, Peter Moore, Brandt Attema, György Gyivicsan and Ben van Dijk.

With an emerging international presence and a distinctive musical voice, Melinda Veres is steadily shaping her path as a versatile and compelling artist on the European stage.
