Daniel D'Alcântara
Daniel D'Alcântara (Trumpeter, Composer, and Educator ) began his studies at 9 years of age with his father, trumpeter Magnus D'Alcântara. He attended the University of São Paulo and graduated with Bachelor’s degree in trumpet (ECA-USP).

As a teacher, Daniel has taught at many major musical events. Some of these include the Winter Festival of Campos do Jordao (2000), Summer School of Brasilia, Winter Festival de Tatuí in São Paulo, Curitiba Music Workshop, Choro Festival and Jazz Jericoacoara-CE. In April 2005, at the invitation of Brazilian company Weril Musical Instruments, Daniel taught workshops in Brazilian Instrumental Music at several conservatories and universities in Europe and Russia.
D’Alcântara has accompanied many major Brazilian artists such as João Donato, Roberto Menescal, Ivan Lins, Leny Andrade, Joyce Moreno, Claudette Soares, Filo Machado, Rosa Passos, Milton Nascimento, Max de Castro, Pedro Mariano, and Eugenia Melo e Castro. In 2001 he recorded his first CD, "Horizon”, in partnership with drummer Edu Ribeiro, a member of Trio Current. In addition, Daniel participated in the 2003 Chivas Jazz Festival as part of American saxophonist’s Lee Konitz’s nonet.
As a guest soloist with the São Paulo Jazz Symphony Orchestra, he participated in two world premieres; one in 2004 with the work "Thaddeus" by Alexander Mihanovich, and the other in 2005 at the Campos do Jordao Winter Festival with the work "Brasilianas No.4" by Cyro Pereira, which was conducted by the composer.
In 2007, Daniel played in a big band formed by Brazilian musicians to perform the works of the conductor and composer Maria Schneider, who conducted the group at the Jazz Festival of Minas Gerais. From 2009 to 2014, Daniel was a solo trumpeter with the Jazz Symphony Orchestra of the State of São Paulo.
Daniel currently teaches at the School of Music Tom Jobim (EMESP), College Souza Lima / Berklee and also in the traditional Municipal School of Music of São Paulo. He is a member of Soundscape Big Band Jazz with which he has recorded four CDs ("Maybe September", "Uncle Charles", "Colors Vol.1", and "Soundscapes") .
Besides participating in numerous recordings of Brazilian Instrumental Music, Daniel leads his own quintet playing original compositions and has his next CD "Song for better times" due for release in the first half of 2015.
