Sidmar Vieira

Sidmar Vieira began playing the trumpet when he was eight years old. At age eleven, he began his classical trumpet studies with Professor Edgar Batista at the ULM (Free University of Music). At fifteen he was a fellow of the Symphony Orchestra of Barueri, and at age seventeen started pop-trumpet studies with Daniel D’Alcantara, with whom he studied for three years.

Sidmar was a member of Tom Jobim Youth Orchestra where he accompanied great icons of música popular brasileira such as Jane Duboc, Adilson Godoy, Amilson Godoy, Fabiana Cozza, Jonny Alf, Duo German and Jonas Sant'Anna, Alaíde Costa, Filo Machado, Monica Salmaso, Margarete Menezes, Gilberto Gil, Rosa Passos, Mariah Carey, Luiz Melodia, Mart'nália, Baby Brazil, Paula Lima, Elba Ramalho, Daniel Taubkin, Max de Castro, Simoninha, Claudio Zoli, Maestro Roberto Sion, Raul de Souza, Bocato Test Tube, Guilherme Vergueiro, and others.

Sidmar has played with many important musicians from the international scene such as Maria Schneider, Frank Sinatra Junior, Zalon Thompson, Sax Gordon, Tia Carroll, JJ Jackson, and Donny Nichilo. In 2010, he participated in the Montreux Festival with Marcia Castro. Vieira has also played in several musicals, including Sweet Charity, and Into the Woods, and the opera Porgy and Bess.

Sidmar has released his first CD with the Sidmar Vieira quintet, entitled "Free". Currently, he is part of the Soundscape Big Band, the Symphonic Jazz Orchestra of São Paulo State, Reteté Big Band, and Band Urban. He also plays with the following groups: Vieira Sidiel quintet, Jorginho Neto, Marcia Castro, Deep Funk Session, Igor Prado Band, Sensational Orchestra Sonora, Ball Simonal with Max de Castro and Simoninha, Claudio Zoli, Tabatha Faer, Orchestra Saga, and The Preachers.
