Richard Putz wins Marimba Competition in Salzburg

An extraordinary gifted field of candidates, a highly respected team of jury members and a perfect organisation at the decor of Salzburg, made the International Marimba Competition Salzburg 2012 one big success.

Richard Putz, who played as a 13-year-old in the 2006 competition as well, ended up as the 1st prize winner in a spectacular final round of five great talents. All finalists first played a for the competition commissioned piece 'Dead Strokes' by Minas Borboudakis for solo marimba and percussion ensemble, accompanied by the Via Nova Percussion Group, and came back later for a 15-20 minutes free choice programm.

During the Award ceremony, Adams president Frans Swinkels, handed over the first prize to the winner Richard Putz who won a brand new Adams Alpha series marimba. Putz about the marimba: “It was a very big pleasure to perform the whole International Marimba Competition in Salzburg on the new Adams Alpha Series marimba! This is the most beautiful Sound I´ve ever heard on marimba. So thank you Adams!”
