Nayra Adrián Rodríguez

Nayra Adrián was born in Tenerife, in the Canary Islands, she graduated in Music studies, and is specialised in the Traverse Flute at the Conservatorio Superior de Música de Santa Cruz de Tenerife, under Catherine Biteur’s direction. Then, her postgraduate studies were completed at the Real Conservatorio Superior de Música “Victoria Eugenia” in Granada, Andalucía. She has attended different advanced courses which have been imparted by several national and international musicians such as, Magdalena Martínez, Jaime Martín, Salvador Espasa, Joaquín Jericó, Vicens Prats, Antonio Nuez…etc.

She has collaborated as a flute soloist and a piccolo soloist in several ensemble performances such as Joven Orquesta Sinfónica de Tenerife, Banda Sinfónica Universitaria de la ULL, Orquesta de la Escuela de Ópera de Tenerife, Orquesta Académica de Madrid, Ensemble de Vientos Ad Libitum en Granada and in various Canarian traditional music groups.

She became interested in teaching when she achieved a Postgraduate course in Methodology and Education resources in the ULL and, at the same time, she began to work as a flute teacher in several Academies and Music schools in Tenerife.
She has continued to develop and improve her skills in Flute Pedagogy by completing courses like, the “Aula de Música” in the University of Alcalá de Henares, also, she has taken part in Pedagogy courses in groups, courses to improve technical skills, in addition, she has collaborated with some of the teachers of the Didactic Training Association.

Since 2005 to the present day, she has been a flute teacher in the Conservatorio Profesional de Música de Canarias. She began teaching in Santa Cruz de Tenerife and is currently teaching, in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria. Also, she is employed as the Deputy Headmistress.

Simultaneously, she continues to teach young children (from 7-14 years) taking part in a several range of educational projects such as organizing the coordination of the “Aula de Flauta Travesera” in the “ Musical Camp” in La Villa de La Orotava  (Tenerife), this activity was part of “ Chamber Music Fest” of La Villa de La Orotava, and she has worked there for the past eleven years.
