Ludwig Albert receives doctoral title

Ludwig Albert received the doctoral title at the University Antwerp for his presentation of 'Movin' Grips-body controlled marimba sound production and the CD production “Marimba Universe” with own compositions, including as highlight his double concerto ‘the Universe’, performed abroad at major festivals and for live TV broadcasts from leading concert venues such as the National center of performing Arts in Seoul-Korea and Beijing China.

He was lauded for being the first marimbist to analyze tone production through designed stroke movements. The jury praised his innovative pedagogical concept and method, which is based on 25 years’ experience and basically created in 2006, as the first in depth approach to increase the sonority and musicality in marimba performance, applicable to all percussion instruments and to a wider area in music education. The international jury members also stated that his intensive research would be awarded abroad with a double doctorate. After the Laudatio, the concert with a selection of masterworks, was received with standing ovation.
