Percussion & Composition

Born in 1961 in Stuttgart-Germany. Studied with different well-named professors of percusion. 1986-88 he taught percussion at the University of Cologne, since 1988 he teaches at Musikschule Starnberg. More than 40 publications of his compositions with different publishers.

Numerous concerts with the INDEX 4 Percussion Ensemble. In 1997 he won the first prize of the 24th Composition Contest of the Percussive Arts Society (PAS) with his work "Black Sphinx" for marimba. In July 1999 he won the first prize of the 3rd International Challenge for creative Percussionists at PercFest, Laigueglia-Italy. In 2004 he won the Special Prize for Pedagogical Composition at the first Composition Contest in Wolkersdorf, Austria with Die Sitzgruppe for percussion quartet. His work KICK BOX 261 was honoured with the third prize of the international composition contest of the PAS Italy in 2006. In 2008 Leander won the first prize of the Composition Contest of the Classical Marimba League USA with the work Minotaurus 4.3.
