Jerome Stover

Dr. Jerome Stover was born and raised in Columbia, South Carolina, USA and holds degrees in Music from Indiana, DePaul, Yale, and Boston Universities.

Over the course of several years, Dr. Stover has performed with the Chicago, Boston, Detroit, Oregon, Jacksonville, Alabama, New Mexico, Korean Broadcasting System, and New World Symphonies. He has also held the post of interim principal tubist of the Honolulu Symphony Orchestra with whom he has appeared as a soloist. Dr. Stover’s other solo appearances have included performing as a guest soloist of the Yale School of Music in Carnegie Hall’s Weill Recital Hall and presenting a recital at the 2015 Southwest Regional Tuba and Euphonium Conference in Grants, New Mexico. He can be heard on recordings with the Chicago and Honolulu Symphonies as well as the DePaul Wind Ensemble.

Dr. Stover’s performances have taken him throughout North America, Europe, Asia, and South Africa. He has been a principal musician of the Tanglewood Music Center, Cascades Music Festival, Sun River Music Festival, and has performed at the Glimmerglass Opera Festival. Dr. Stover’s teaching experience has included local public schools as well as previously serving on the faculties of the University of Hawaii, Rochester College, and the University of Massachusetts Lowell. Presently, Dr. Stover teaches tuba at Sam Houston State University as well as a large studio of tuba and euphonium students in the Houston area.
