Jean-François Doumerc

The flautist Jean-François Doumerc, born in Toulouse in 1970, has been a soloist with the Philarmonic Orchestra of Gran Canaria (Spain) since 1994, with which he toured Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Spain, China, Japan and Has also performed concertos by composers A. Honegger, JS Bach, André Jolivet, WA Mozart, PJ von Lindtpaintner and Jean Françaix.

After completing his studies at the Conservatoire de Limoges with the award "Médaille d'or à l'unanimité" he perfected his education with Francis Gabin, Ida Ribera, Michel Debost and François Veillhan. In 1993 he won the second prize at the "Concours de Flûte de Lutèce" (Paris).
Jean-François Doumerc is a founding member of the "Ensemble Equinoxe", a chamber music group of different ensembles whose main focus is to organize charity concerts and the "Trio Sanssouci" together with the violinist Birgit Hengsbach-Doumerc and the pianist Sigfredo Rosales. As a guest musician, he has participated in various chamber music cycles of the Canary Islands, with the cycle "Organ in Concert" and "Young Canary Performers" being highlighted. He was most recently invited to the Quantum Ensemble (the Tenerife ensemble).

His interest in contemporary music and his commitment to the Canarian music creation make him regularly participate in concerts of the "Promuscan" or the "Contemporary Ensemble Las Palmas". He plays works by the most renowned Canarian composers, among them several premieres.

As a pedagogue, he worked at the Conservatoire de Limoges and the Las Palmas College of Music. He currently teaches at the Music School "Albeniz -Arenas" and at the Orchestra Academy of the Philharmonic Orchestra of Gran Canaria.

For the labels RALS, Agruparte Producciones and SUMMIT RECORDS, he has recorded in the context of the "Creación musical en Canarias" and the series "Cuentos musicales", as well as the Sinfonia Concertante by P.J. Lindtpaintner.
