Freddie Gavita

A fearless improviser and virtuoso trumpeter, Freddie is one of the UK jazz scene’s brightest lights having just won the 2017 British Jazz Award for best trumpet.

His debut album “Transient” was very well received with a four star review in the Guardian as well as glowing reports from the online jazz community. The band is touring in June 2018 to promote the record, as well as regular monthly appearances at Ronnie Scott’s Late Show.

Freddie Gavita is a graduate of the Royal Academy of Music and the National Youth Jazz Orchestra, he rose to prominence through the John Dankworth Orchestra, and has been a member of the Ronnie Scott’s Jazz Orchestra since 2007.

He currently holds the trumpet chair in the Ronnie Scott’s Club Quintet, and has featured in Mark Fletcher’s “Fletch’s Brew” since 2010.

Career highlights include appearing as soloist with the BBC Big Band, three performances at the BBC Proms at the Royal Albert Hall, and bringing Roger Michell’s 2013 film “Le Week-end” to life with his inimitable muted trumpet stylings.

Freddie has played with, among others, Peter Erskine, Joe Locke, John Hendricks, Kenny Wheeler, Stan Sulzmann, Tim Garland, Jon Faddis, Gregory Porter, Curtis Stigers, Paloma Faith, Jess Glynne, Seth McFarlane and Dionne Warwick.
