Fiona FOO Pui-yee

Fiona FOO Pui-yee is active and versatile in all aspects of performance as marimba soloist, recitalist and chamber musician while starting to play concert on stage at the age of four in solo piano and percussion at six. Her solo performances have been hailed as “excellent coordination and many contemporary techniques superbly demonstrated”, “very expressive and have a unique and beautiful style of playing”, “full of character and stylish playing; accurate in every way”.

Fiona showed considerable promise by winning numerous competitions in solo marimba, including the 1st Prize in European Music Competition; 1st Prize and Top grand prize “Best Competitor Masterplayers Prize” in Masterplayers International Music Competition; 1st Prize in YAMAHA Europe Music Foundation Scholarship Award and other prize laureate such as Universal Marimba Competition and several concerto competitions. She has been invited to perform live in various TV and Radio productions, CD recordings and has been fortunate to appear as a soloist to perform concertos with orchestras working with renowned conductors such as Takuo Yuasa and Alexander Shelly etc.

She received her Bachelor in Music (Honors) from Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts in Western Percussion with Dr. Lung Heung- wing, timpani with Alan Cumberland and Chinese Percussion with Yim Hok-man. Then she obtained her Master in Music, solo marimba
specialization; and Master in Chamber Music in LUCA, Hogeschool voor Wetenschap & Kunst Lemmensinstituut, with Ludwig Albert and both graduated with Greatest Distinction. She also attained from Trinity Guildhall (London) with ATCL in Performance in both Solo Piano and Percussion; LTCL in Percussion with Distinction and also the highest testimonial FTCL in Performance. As an active performer, she performed extensively in different countries including Belgium, Luxemburg, the Netherlands, Italy, Poland, Russia, Hong Kong, Mainland China, Spain, Austria, France, Germany, Slovenia, Romania, Hungary, Portugal, Turkey, Switzerland, Korea, Greece and USA etc.
