Breath and Balance Workshop

06 January 2016

Improve your Flute Playing from the Inside Out with the The Feldenkrais Method®

The Feldenkrais Method® is an educational method focusing on self-awareness and learning involving gentle movements, which can bring about improved coordination and enhanced functioning. It is named after its originator, Moshe Feldenkrais (1904-1984), an engineer and physicist as well as a Judo teacher.
What are the benefits?
A more efficient posture
Easier and fuller breathing
Relief from tension and muscular pain
Greater relaxation and well-being
Improved performance
Increased vitality
What to expect

This class will focus on the relationship between breath and balance and improving each of them. You will be talked through a sequence of gentle movements that works like a physical riddle. Each new movement is repeated and explored, enabling you to become familiar with it, and to begin to play with unaccustomed movement relationships. By engaging your curiosity, gently and at your own rate, you learn to explore the world of your internal sensation. You learn to use this awareness to release chronic patterns of tension and create new movement possibilities. Results of this lesson can be improvements in tone production, better coordination and facility and freer breathing.
