Gareth McLearnon is an internationally renowned and multi-award-winning flutist, composer, arranger and educator who travels the globe every year leading an enviably diverse, innovative, creative and exciting musical career. He left his native Belfast, Northern Ireland in 1999 to attend the Guildhall School of Music & Drama and is currently based in London.

As a performer, Gareth is in demand as a soloist, recording artist, orchestral and chamber musician. He has given many hundreds of performances across four continents, and has led masterclasses and education events for well over three thousand flute players of all ages and abilities. In recent years his engagements have included multiple masterclasses in the USA at Yale University and Boston Flute Academy; Guildhall School of Music & Drama; the Central Conservatory of Music in Beijing; The Royal Conservatoire of Scotland;  The Norwegian Academy of Music; Swedish Royal College of Music;  Flutewise Academies; and masterclasses and performances at the British, Australian, Spanish, Portuguese, Polish, Finnish, Swiss, Adams and Sir James Galway Flute Festivals, as well as concerts and masterclasses in Poland, France, Norway, Hong Kong, Denmark and Iceland. Since 2013 Gareth has been performing and teaching all over Russia in collaboration with Yuri Bashmet Academies including numerous masterclass and concert tours to Novosibirsk, Tollyatti, Rostov-on-Don, Yekaterinburg, Zhoukovskiy, Moscow, Yaroslavl and Kazan and several soloist and concerto performances with the wonderful Moscow Soloists conducted by Maestro Yuri Bashmet himself.
