An Evening with TERRY BOZZIO European Tour 2017: Dimanche le 22 octobre
'An Evening with Terry Bozzio' est un concept révolutionnaire du batteur qui a fait fureur chez Frank Zappa et Juff Beck et qui a fait une carrière impressionnante depuis. Comme batteur soliste, il installait une batterie gigantesque autour de lui. Malgré le fait qu'il est un seul homme derrière une seule batterie, Terry Bozzio réussit à captiver son public pendant trois quarts d'heure et ceci plus de deux fois d'affilée au cours d'une soirée. Tout cela avec sa musique pour percussion mélodique, qui est en alternance pleine de spectacle et très subtile et précise. Le dimanche 22 octobre, Bozzio se produira dans le MUZIEKODROOM à Hasselt lors d'un concert exclusif dans le cadre de sa tournée européenne 2017. Ça fait exactement 14 ans que Terry était notre invité. C'était à l'occasion de l'édition 2003 du Festival du Batteur. La salle était tout de suite comble. Maintenant, il nous revient avec “An Evening with Terry Bozzio European Tour” pour faire la promotion de sa dernière production “Terry Bozzio Composer Series”. Ce sera une soirée de batterie en solo avec, entre autres, des compositions retraçant toute sa carrière et des improvisations. Il ne s'agira donc certainement pas d'un clinic ou d'un workshop, mais plutôt d'une soirée intime avec Terry Bozzio et sa batterie monstre.
“TERRY BOZZIO - An Evening of Solo Drum Music” is a unique, intense, dynamic, spiritualistic, melodic, orchestral, atmospheric, and musical performance on the largest tuned drum & percussion set in the world. Unless you have seen Terry, you have no idea what you are in for. Bozzio is an enigmatic, evocative, and engaging musician whose instrument just happens to be the drums. Terry Bozzio is able to accompany himself with bass note patterns and, at the same time, melodically solo on top with highly developed coordination skills to express a complete musical statement on the drum set alone. Drawing from jazz, classical, & ethnic percussion styles from around the world, Terry Bozzio is “a storyteller,” able to weave a hypnotic spell over audiences and enthrall them with an eclectic experience filled with contrast, variety, intimacy, excitement, & passion.

Terry has had tremendous success with his last two coast-to-coast North American tours, as well as his last three Terry Bozzio solo drum performance tours in Europe (2012 included his headline show at the Jazz Festival Frankfurt – the oldest jazz festival in the world – and 2013 which included sold out performances in Sweden, Germany, Eastern Europe, and France; and 2015 which included performances in France, Italy, Switzerland, Hungary, Poland, Germany, Austria, and The Netherlands ). Please note that this is not a bombastic 2 hour drum solo. This is MUSIC on drums, “an evening with Terry Bozzio.” In most of Bozzio’s works, he accompanies himself with bass lines while soloing over it melodically on the tuned toms. There is space, classical forms & structures, ambient electronic loops, and atmospheric percussion effects, as well as some exciting & fiery drumming that brings audiences to their feet!
“Terry Bozzio Composer Series” was released in Japan in the fall 2015 and in Europe in early 2017! 59 Compositions, with 59 Paintings for each title on a 4 CD, 1 live performance/interview/drum setup DVD & Art Booklet in a Vinyl Sized Package! (On the Ward Records Label). For those of you who may have seen Terry on tour, the house music he played was only some of this material! Terry has been composing in & beyond all genres for several decades: Classical, World, Fusion, Electronic, Ambient, Rock & Jazz!
