13th Adams International Flute Festival

Rogier de Pijper

Rogier de Pijper is a Dutch flutist who specialized in extended techniques on the flute. We are very happy that he will play a concert, premiering a piece that was specially composed for him by the Italian composer Sandro Fazzolari.

Rogier de Pijper started with his Flute Colors project in 2011. With the project Rogier is determined to make extended techniques more open to flutists, composers and listeners. His book Flute Colors became availiable in 2016 and contains 112 exercises to improve flute playing by using extended techniques. The book is sold in many countries around the world and the accompanying website flutecolors.com is visited by thousands of people every month.
With the project Rogier also encourages the expansion of the flute repertoire. Various composers including Sandro Fazzoari (Italy) and Gregory Glance (USA) wrote several pieces inspired by Rogier's the website.
In addition to Flute Colors Rogier plays in flute quartet Beau4, substituted in various orchestras and organises summer courses for amateur flutists of all ages.
Rogier studied at the conservatories of Rotterdam, The Hague and Tilburg. Rogier was a teacher for extended techniques at the conservatory of Tilburg until 2013.
