Flutes and Piccolos overhaul and repair
A flute or piccolo should ideally be checked by a professional repair technician once a year. This helps keep the instrument in top condition and allows the technician to work preventively. You’ll also be aware of any repairs that might be needed in the future. At Adams, it’s always possible to schedule an appointment with one of our certified flute specialists.
Repair department
Our wind instrument repair department is where craftsmanship and passion come together. Our experienced and certified repair technicians have extensive knowledge of all types of wind instruments. With utmost precision and the use of high-quality materials, they ensure that each instrument is restored to peak condition. Whether it’s minor adjustments, thorough maintenance, or complex repairs, your instrument is in the best hands with us.
Clean, Oil and Adjust (COA)
During a Clean, Oil, and Adjust (COA), the entire flute is carefully disassembled. The instrument is then thoroughly cleaned.
After cleaning, the keys are reassembled and precisely adjusted. The instrument's rods are oiled, and any worn components, such as pads, corks, and felts, are replaced as needed.
Overhaul
The goal of a complete overhaul is to restore the instrument's mechanics as much as possible to like-new condition. All felts, pads, and corks will be replaced. The D# key and trill keys will be replaced if necessary or upon request. All solder joints will be inspected. Keys will be readjusted to ensure a perfect seal. The body and all loose parts will be cleaned in an ultrasonic bath.
We do not recommend fully polishing the flute, as this can damage the precious metal of the keys and body. Polishing and dent removal are not standard services and are only performed upon request. Any unforeseen additional work will be discussed with you beforehand.
For our overhauls, we use original pads and parts from renowned brands. Upgrades are also possible, such as replacing cow leather pads with kangaroo leather pads.
Damage
Has your flute been dropped, knocked over, or had another accident? We are happy to prepare a damage report for your insurance and discuss the available options with you. Furthermore, we will fully repair the instrument in our repair workshop. We will completely remove dents, straighten the instrument, and refinish or replate it with lacquer or silver. An instrument must be inspected by our repair specialists before they can create a damage report.
Replacement Instrument During Repairs
During a repair, you can use a replacement instrument free of charge, depending on availability. Inquire at the time of dropping off your instrument whether a replacement instrument is available and ask about the terms and conditions.
