Workshop: Lost Music Unchained by Avner Geiger
In the Netherlands before the holocaust, many Jews have been strongly integrated in all fields of the Dutch cultural life, and very much so in the musical life. This project sheds light on pieces by composers who have been victims of the Nazis and who were often completely forgotten after the war, as well as their music. The goals of this project, is to bring new life into their music and to tell their story. This is a lecture-concert about the pieces, the composers and my own family’s story in Amsterdam. Pieces by Leo Smit, Dick Kattenburg and many others will be presented. A fascinating story, larded with special music!
