Filip Neyens

Filip Neyens was born on March 25, 1976 in Neerpelt. Already at very young age he became fascinated by the versatile sound of the bassoon and so at the age of 9 he entered the bassoon class of Mr. Raymond Melis.

In 1994 he became a laureate of both the National Competition of the Municipal Credit for Music, Word and Dance and the international competition for young soloists 'Purmerade' in Purmerend (NL). He received his further music education at the Lemmens Institute in Leuven and the Conservatory of Maastricht (NL), in both conservatories he was part of the bassoon class of Mr. Dirk Noyen. After obtaining master's degrees and specializations in bassoon and chamber music, he successfully took part in a recruitment exam at the Flemish Opera in 2001. For 6 years he was associated with the orchestra of this opera house as a bassoon and contrabassoon soloist. In 2007, Filip transfers to the National Orchestra of Belgium, where he is still active to this day, also as a soloist in bassoon and contrabassoon solo. In addition to many national and international performances with his own orchestra, Filip regularly collaborates with many other (chamber) orchestras and ensembles that are rich in Belgian musical life, including Het Symfonieorkest Vlaanderen, De Belgische Kamerfilharmonie, Oxalys,... Finally, Filip is part of a number of regular chamber music formations such as the ensemble Emanon, the Soffio-Quintet and the Bassoon Quartet Phenix. also as soloist bassoon and contrabassoon solo.
