Most innovative allround timpani in the world
Adams' pedal system used on the Professional Gen II, is the only Balanced Action Pedal Mechanism in the world that allows you to play with calf heads. An innovative design also ensures a perfectly working Balanced Action, even if the heads are stretched out.
The Professional Gen II bowl is suspended from a single flange chrome plated steel ring supported by strong struts for maximum sustain and projection.
The Professional GEN II timpani are available with four different bowl types.
Cambered Hammered Copper
The Cambered, or flat bottomed, shape is based on the bowl shape used in Adams Philharmonic Light and Dresden Classic Timpani. The quality of the tone is darker than other GEN II model, and more focused with a prominent fundamental. The New optional Hand Fine Tuner feature on timpani gives you extended tuning range with a familiar feel and adjustability of a Dresden system with a balanced action pedal. The Fine Tuner also allows the use of calf heads on a balanced action system - another advancement in timpani design from Adams.
The hammered copper bowls are press formed from a single sheet of supreme quality copper and hammered afterwards. The Adams deep-drawn method of production is far superior in tone and consistency to other common molding methods. Seamless and free of any welds or soldering, the bowl is allowed to resonant freely and evenly. This forming method also ensures an even thickness throughout the entire kettle, resulting in the ultimate in both tonal quality and projection. The bowls are suspended by a strong single flange chrome steel ring to maintain bowl roundness and offer the best protection during transport.
Polished Copper timpani are the benchmark in sound and performance, due to their ability to be used in nearly any setting by amateurs and professionals alike.
Fiberglass timpani bowls are lower weight and more cost effective than copper. While the range of the drums are the same as the copper bowl models, fiberglass shells have a slightly shorter sustain that makes them ideal for smaller ensembles and venues. The Fiberglass Professional Series drums offer a great value and fantastic performance quality
