The company/brand DW (Drum Workshop) was founded in the year 1972, by Don Lombardi. In this year the company was not a manufacturer yet but a drumschool, after a few years of giving lessons and brainstorming about improving product, Don Lombardi and his business partner John Good made their first trap case drum throne. This turned out to be a success, in 1997 Don got the offer to buy a factory with all the tools he needed to produce drum related products, this was the moment that the company changed from drumschool to manufacturer.
