Philharmonic Classic Timpani
New in the Adams timpani line is the Philharmonic Classic. This lightweight
instrument is equipped with a pedal mechanism in the old style ratchet,
a very basic system like in former days. More and more musicians asked
for a timpani with a authentic character. And because Adams is a company
of continuous innovation and development we now proudly present this new
model.
The Philharmonic Classic featured our redesigned patented split rocker
arm system. An unique system with an amazing design that decreases the
pressure on the frame of the timpani. This will prevent against any flex
or changes in the shape of the frame or bowl.
Another great advantage of the Classic is that an extra bar for connection
from the front axle to the cam is no longer needed. This is one of the
reasons that makes the new model an absolutely lightweight with a great
design.
Adams Musical Instruments exceeds themselves again with a very nice designed
timpani with ratchet tuning pedal. The authentic character, easy operation,
and the terrific sound makes the Philharmonic Classic a timpani of the
very highest standard.
Philharmonic Light Timpani
Adams Philharmonic Light Timpani represent the ultimate expression of
quality in timpani sound and design. You can choose between Berlin style
pedal, or Dresden style pedal. Both designs feature the quality, engineering
and state of the art precision that have become synonymous with all Adams
instruments. Every Philharmonic Light bowl is made of the highest quality
select copper, from one single piece without seams or soldering.
The bowls are even and matched tone from drum to drum. Every detail of
these superior bowls, from the shape of the lip, to the taper and depth,
has been developed through years of research in conjunction with top professional
timpanists from all over the world. The result is a drum that has the
most beautiful, long-ringing, fundamental pitch-core you will ever hear.
From whisper soft, to the loudest end of the dynamic spectrum, these bowls
project beautifully and are virtually impossible to overplay. The shape
of the bowl together with the construction and design of the Philharmonic
Light Frame, produces a drum that will not distort or go sharp as the
player increases volume and power.

Pedal Styles
Both our original Berlin Style and our Dresden Style Philharmonic Light
models feature the exclusive Adams “ratchet free” adjustable pedal system.
Often imitated, this unique system is state of the art, offering without
doubt the best positive locking mechanism available. There are absolutely
no intermeshing metal teeth, which can slip, grind and restrict the pinpointing
of each note. With the Adams pedal mechanism, the player can lock in any
note securely and silently, precisely where you hear it, not where the
tooth of a ratchet dictates. Our patented split rocker arm system, redistributes
the leverage employed by the pedal cam and the fine tuner rod, thus eliminating
the increased resistance in the pedal and fine tuner mechanism in the
high register of each drum. This amazing design decreases the pressure
on the frame of the timpani, preventing any flex or changes in the frame
or bowl shape. This revolutionary Adams exclusive produces a pedal and
fine tuner.
New in line is the Philharmonic Classic. This model has a pedal mechanism
with the old style ratchet, a very basic system like the old days. This
model featured our re-designed patented split rocker arm system. The amazing
design decreases the pressure on the frame of the timpani, preventing
any flex or changes in the frame or bowl shape. No extra transfer bar
for connection from the front axle to the cam. The unique split rocker
arm is completely mounted on the front side of the timpani. A very nice
design with ratchet tuning pedal.
