Artist Marimbas

For the most innovative series of marimbas available on the market today, you need to look no further than the Artist Series from Adams. Both the Robert Van Sice model marimbas and the Artist Classic marimbas, with their beautifully stained wood rails and end pieces, are manufactured with the highest levels of craftsmanship and quality materials, to meet and exceed the demands of today's top marimba virtuosos. Only hand selected exquisite Rosewood is used to create these outstanding instruments. This insures that every Artist Series Marimba we produce provides the rich tone and perfect pitch that has become synonymous with Marimbas bearing the Adams name. Adams is the only company producing bars meticulously precision tuned though an incredible sixth overtone in the lower register, using a specially designed proprietary computer assisted method. This exclusive tuning process gives our Robert Van Sice model and Artist Classic model marimbas the most stable pitch and evenness of sound available, and allows Adams complete control over all aspects of the marimba's sound.

Artist Classic Marimbas

The Adams Artist Marimbas are made from the best materials and is the first choice for any marimba player. After many years of research, Adams Instruments proudly present new marimba bars. While nothing visually has changed, the sound and ease of playing from these bars has been drastically improved. Eight years ago, Adams began to purchase a higher quality rosewood than was previously ever available. Mr. André Adams and Mr. Frans Swinkels visited the Honduran forests several times to select the best possible wood for the production of their marimba bars. Adams' policy is to keep our wood in special climate-controlled rooms for 8 years to insure precise aging. The result is quite honestly phenomenal! A much faster, clearer tone and pitch. Exactly what all marimba players want.

The patented voyager system on the Adams Artist Marimbas allow easy adjustments over a wide range of playing heights. Rails are removable and fold in half for easy packing and transportation.

Van Sice Artist Marimbas

Many consider Robert Van Sice the most exciting performer of contemporary marimba music on the concert scene today. To date he has performed over one hundred works including concertos, chamber music and solos, and is one the most in demand and highly regarded marimba teachers. Robert was head of Europe's first diploma program for solo marimba at the Rotterdams Conservatorium for nine years and is currently Director of Percussion Studies at the Yale School of Music and is on the faculty of the Peabody Conservatory in Baltimore.

Bar Mounts
All resonators are attached to our patented Voyager frame with soft rubber shock mounts. This allows each resonator to float and vibrate freely, further eliminating any possibility of unwanted frame noise.

Ludwig Albert Artist Marimba

The Ludwig Albert Artist Marimba is the latest model in Adams’ Artist Series. The instrument, made in close collaboration with the Belgian marimba virtuoso Ludwig Albert, is a continuation on the Adams Custom Marimba. The frame, with beautiful white stained rails and side parts, comes complete with Adams’ patented Voyager height adjustment system. The Voyager system has been proven worldwide as the easiest and most precise method to adjust the height of the instrument. Built on the Adams Traveller frame, with a low cross bar and large, smooth rolling wheels, the instrument has fantastic stability. The golden colored resonators complete the design of the marimba, and make the instrument shine on every stage.

Voyager Frame

Our patented Voyager frame provides the most precise, quickest method available to elegantly adjust and fine tune the height of the instrument.

Conversion sets

Its state of the art design also allows a player to easily upgrade from a 41/3 octave to a 5 octave range, without having to buy a completely new instrument. By purchasing the appropriate conversion kit, you can begin with a 41/3 octave instrument and later expand to a 42/3 or 5 octave instrument. If you begin with a 5 octave instrument, you can purchase a kit to convert it to a 41/3 octave instrument when the extended range is no longer required. You only have to take the instrument you need to each job. The Adams Robert Van Sice model marimbas are available in 41/3 , 42/3, and 5 octave ranges, and the Artist Classic Marimbas are available in 41/3 and 5 octave ranges. Each instrument comes equipped with a protective cover and a set of four mallets.
